Job Description:

The Dispensary Support role focuses on training and development within a pharmacy environment. Learners will gain exposure to pharmaceutical operations while working under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, in compliance with SAPC regulations.

This position is ideal for motivated individuals who are detail-oriented, customer-focused, and committed to learning within a regulated healthcare environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Sale of Schedule 1 medicines and scheduled substances
  • Assisting with the compounding and preparation of non-sterile medicines according to approved SOPs
  • Unpacking, merchandising, and maintaining cleanliness of dispensary and OTC shelves
  • Accurate interpretation of prescriptions and compliance with SAPC legal requirements
  • Picking, packing, labelling, and checking medication accurately
  • Assisting with stock control, expiry date monitoring, and shelf organisation (Schedule 1–5)
  • Supporting patient follow-ups, script tracking, and appointment reminders
  • Assisting with call centre scripts and patient service telephone calls
  • Providing health-related information to promote wellness
  • Assisting with medical aid authorisations (chronic, HIV/AIDS, and oncology medication)
  • Reporting low stock, out-of-stock items, and stock discrepancies
  • Receiving and processing dispensary stock according to company SOPs
  • Completing any additional duties assigned by the Dispensary Manager

Minimum Requirements:

  • You need a Grade 12 or Senior Certificate.
  • You must have at least 50% in Pure Mathematics.
  • You need at least a 50% average in Life Science, Physical Science, or both.
  • You must be a South African citizen.
  • You cannot have a criminal record.
  • You cannot have a bad credit record.
  • You must pass a test to register with SAPC.
